Andrea R. Wood is federal judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. On May 6, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Wood to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to fill the vacancy left by William J. Hibbler. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 14, 2013.[1][2]

Early life and education

Wood attended the University of Chicago, earning her B.A. in 1995. She went on to attend Yale Law School, earning her J.D. 1998.[1]

On May 6, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Andrea R. Wood to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to fill the vacancy left by William J. Hibbler.[3] Obama commented on the nominations, stating,

I am honored to put forward these highly qualified candidates for the federal bench. They will be distinguished public servants and valuable additions to the United States District Court.[1][4]

Wood was rated "Majority Qualified," "Minority Not Qualified" by the American Bar Association. She had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on June 19, 2013 and you can find her Committee Questionnaire available here.

Wood was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 14, 2013 by a voice vote. Wood had this to say about her confirmation,

It has been an honor first to be nominated by the president and now to be confirmed by the Senate... I’m delighted to have the opportunity to serve alongside the judges of the Northern District of Illinois for whom I have great respect.[2][4]
