Anil has been committed to public service since his teenage years. He began his life in public service as a youth summer missionary and he later served as a volunteer fighter for over eight years. From there, he took on the role of Community Relations Specialist for the 41st Senate District where he received insight into legislative affairs in Albany and became deeply involved in the local area. Anil’s passion for public service, transparency, and accessible representation made an impression on voters who elected him East Fishkill Town Councilman in 2018. During his tenure, Anil helped countless East Fishkill constituents with local and state issues while keeping his community informed with vital information. He even launched the #HometownHotspots tour to showcase local small businesses and non-profits and to create an open dialogue on becoming better government partners. Dismayed by the media-driven national resentment of law enforcement during the pandemic, Anil also went on to create the ‘Hudson Valley Goes Blue in Support of Law Enforcement’ initiative that spurred thousands of Hudson Valley residents to turn their porch lights blue as a sign of support and respect for our heroes in uniform.

Anil proudly stands by his voting and advocacy record. His steadfast support for small businesses, law enforcement, fiscal conservatism, smart development, and most importantly, putting the needs of constituents first, helped improve and shine a light on key local issues.

  • MAKE NEW YORK SAFE AGAIN: Cashless Bail has turned our criminal justice system upside down. Our state now sympathizes with criminals and repeat offenders over our uniformed heroes while simultaneously placing victims, witnesses, and emergency services at risk of retaliation. Bail reform has stripped away the ability of judges and law enforcement to effectively protect our communities. That is why I vow to support all legislation to repeal cashless bail reform and restore local control to criminal justice. Furthermore, I will oppose any calls to defund the police and advocate for increased funding for law enforcement mental health, training, equipment, and technology.
  • Reduce the Cost of Energy: Our residents are struggling to fill their gas tanks at the pump, purchase heating oil, and power their homes. We need representatives in Albany that will fight for real solutions to the energy crisis. Making the lives of our residents more affordable is paramount; I vow to support legislation to make us energy independent.
  • PRO-BUSINESS Coming from a family of small business owners, I understand the difficulties of starting and owning a business in New York. I started the #HometownHotspot initiative highlighting our small businesses and non-profits to receive feedback on how we can become better partners in government. As we look to continue our efforts in Albany, I vow to expand that open dialogue, advocate for small businesses, and always seek their advice before voting. Further, I will focus my efforts on advancing economic growth by supporting measures that mitigate New York’s burdensome business tax code and stifle bureaucratic overreach.

Constitutional Rights, Public Safety, Energy Independence, Economic Development, Expanding Police Programs, & Government Accountability.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in New York

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
