I'm an organizer, activist, and public servant dedicated to ensuring that my community is represented effectively at all levels of government. Being the son of an immigrant and the grandson and great-grandson of refugees, I’ve always felt a need to give back to this society, since so much of what I have is due to the survival of my relatives and the kindness of others. I have more than half a decade of experience in government and local politics, with an emphasis on policy and grassroots organization. I love the Fox Valley community, which is why I ran for the Geneva Public Library Board this past April and have been pushing for the library to maintain and improve upon its commitment to diversity and inclusion. In addition to being a library Trustee, I recently worked in the office of Congressman Mike Quigley, where I experienced, first-hand, the role of local elected officials and where the government can step up to help people put food on their tables, pay their bills, and go to sleep without fears of where their next meal or paycheck will come from.

I believe I am the right choice for the Fox Valley since I'm truly invested in the future of the community and embody the core values of those who live here.

I have already lived the importance of gun violence prevention, I’ve felt a call to stand up since the shooting in Parkland, Florida. Like most of my generation, I’ve never known a world without school shootings as a daily occurrence, and I grew up with lockdown drills multiple times a year from the time I was five years old. Improving the safety in our schools and preventing gun violence are what mobilized me, when I was 15, to first get involved in local grassroots organization, working on campaigns, organizing town halls and rallies, and demanding that action be taken to make our schools safe. As the youth representative on Congresswoman Lauren Underwood’s Education Advisory Committee, I’ve been discussing gun violence, college affordability, and many of the crises felt in our education system today with congressional staff and education professionals. A lot of progress has been made in Illinois, but more needs to be done to ensure that firearms do not get into the wrong hands. I'm proud to have been given the distinction of "Gun Sense Candidate" by Moms Demand Action and vow to stand for common sense gun violence prevention if elected.

Elected officials need to be truly rooted in their communities. We can't have candidates running for office in districts they don't live in purely for their own career advancement. Most importantly, transparency and open communication with the community is of the utmost importance. If elected, I vow to hold frequent town halls and community visits where all constituents can ask questions and demand I provide a straight answer on my actions in Springfield.

Maintaining open and honest communication with the community and truly being a representative for their constituents and improving the access points in which constituents can make their voices heard in Springfield.

Ron Chernow's Hamilton. I'm a history buff and love reading anything within the realm of politics and history. Chernow's works have always been full of detail and are truly enlightening.

They should work in tandem with a recognition that the executive and legislative branches are separate and independent of the other. I welcome Governor Pritzker's input and influence in large part due to us agreeing on many issues, but I still assert that the state legislature is entirely independent and will pass laws regardless of the Governor's stance, and the Governor shouldn't expect anything less if Illinois is to remain a healthy democracy.

Economic recovery following four years of a failed Rauner Administration and then a global pandemic, and hopefully not only rehabilitating the state's economy but making it one of the state's strongest marketplaces for businesses of all sizes to operate and for well-paying jobs to be created. Much progress has been made in cutting down on debt and overdue bills and Illinois has received credit upgrades for the first time in over a decade. My GOP opponent opposed efforts to improve Illinois' economy and was a willing participant in the budget dispute that plagued much of 2014-2018, and I firmly believe I have the better principles to keep Illinois on the current track.

It depends. My prior government and political experience has been firmly rooted in the community. I was elected on the local level and have spent much of the past 6 years organizing, working, and managing campaigns from the local level to the state, congressional, and even presidential level. All of this experience was rooted in my community and advocating for our betterment. This experience has given me the tools to be an effective representative if elected; however, I believe that we need to elect representatives from all walks of life.

Absolutely. Building relationships with other legislators means more partners in policymaking and a better perspective on how bills would impact the state. To have relationships with other legislators is to be an effective representative and further policymaking that benefits the entire state.

Politicians cannot be a part of the redistricting process whatsoever. An independent commission should draw maps that boost minority representation and create competitive districts when possible. Politicians and political parties shouldn't draw up maps to further their own power.

Energy & Environment - Clean Energy Subcommittee, Mental Health & Addiction Committee, Higher Education Committee, and the Elementary & Secondary Education: School Curriculum & Policies Committee.

Yes, this is an essential check on powers. Even if it is merely a formality, it ensures that there is a process to ensure no branch exceeds their allotted powers.

Compromise is absolutely necessary for effective policymaking. While Democrats have a supermajority in the both houses of the General Assembly, Illinois has one of the most diverse legislatures in the country. It's essential to elect representatives from all backgrounds and walks of life and the result of this is an increased need for compromise not just between parties but within each caucus. Policymaking goes beyond furthering one's own policy goals and actively seeking compromise to ensure that the bill not only passes, but benefits all Illinoisans.
