Biography
Ash Kalra lives in San Jose, California. Kalra earned a B.A. in communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1993, and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1996. His career experience includes working as a planning commissioner with the City of San Jose, as a deputy public defender for Santa Clara County, and as a professor at Lincoln Law School of San Jose. Kalra volunteered with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.[1]

The candidate filing deadline was February 25, 2016, for candidates filing with signatures. The deadline for candidates using a filing fee to qualify was March 11, 2016.[2] Incumbent Nora Campos (D) did not seek re-election.
