Benjamin Cardozo
Benjamin Nathan Cardozo (1870-1938) was an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated to the court by President Herbert Hoover (R) in 1932. Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Cardozo was the Chief Justice for the State of New York Court of Appeals. He served on the Supreme Court until his death on July 9, 1938.[1]
Cardozo was one of three nominees of President Hoover's confirmed to the Supreme Court. He served during The Hughes Court.
Education
Cardozo received his A.B. degree from Columbia University in 1889 and his A.M. degree from Columbia Law School in 1890.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
Supreme Court of the United States
Cardozo was nominated by President Herbert Hoover on February 15, 1932, to replace Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. Cardozo was confirmed by the Senate on February 24, 1932, and received commission on March 2, 1932. He served on this court until his death on July 9, 1938.[1] He was succeeded to this post by Justice Felix Frankfurter.
