Bob Dyer is the Mayor of Virginia Beach. He assumed office on November 20, 2018. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Dyer is running for re-election for Mayor of Virginia Beach. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024.[source]

Dyer is a former member of the Virginia Beach City Council in Virginia, representing the District of Centerville. He was first elected to the council in 2004.[1]

Dyer is affiliated with the Republican Party.[2][3]

Dyer obtained a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Saint Louis University, a master's degree in public administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Regent University. His professional experience includes working as a physical therapist and an assistant professor in the School of Government at Regent University.[4][5]

The city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, held elections for mayor and four city council seats on November 8, 2016. Dyer was mayor of Virginia Beach during the weekend of May 29-31, 2020, when events and activity took place in cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. Events in Virginia Beach, Virginia, took place on Sunday, May 31, 2020.[8] Protests in the larger Hampton Roads area began on Friday, May 29, 2020.[9] No curfews were issued in Virginia Beach over the weekend. The national guard was not deployed.
