Representative Brian Seitz, a Republican, represents Taney County (District 156) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2020.

In addition to his legislative duties, Seitz served as the pastor of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Branson for 12 years and was the owner of Music Country News for 15 years.

Seitz served in the U.S. Army from 1983-86, earning the honor of being Trooper of the Quarter for the 82nd Airborne Division in 1984.

He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1990.

Born in Michigan, Seitz now lives in Branson with his wife, Valerie. They have three children; Daniel, Taylor and Reagan.

  • I am the pro-freedom and liberty candidate in this race. I have demonstrated that in both word and deed and will continue to fight for the individual freedoms of my constituents and all Missourians.
  • I am 100% pro-life and was proud to author and co-author strong pro-life legislation during my first term in office.
  • I believe that the citizens are better stewards of their own money than the government, and will fight for lower taxes and less government intrusion into people's lives.

The Legislature passes the laws, the Governor signs them. The Legislature is the closest body to the people, and is better suited to lead the way on drafting and passing legislation. I believe that both branches should work together on behalf of the people.

Overcoming the influence of lobbyists and special interest groups. Some have admirable goals and are truly seeking the best solution for the people, some are just trying to protect whoever pays the bills. As legislators we need to be beholden to the citizens first and foremost.

I don't think it is necessary to have success, although there is a sharp learning curve when first taking office.

I believe that if compromise can be had without compromising values then it should be sought. However, I take my marching orders from the citizens, and will be uncompromising in my representation of their desires.

We cannot compromise and weaken legislation. Compromise is saying "ok you've got a better idea than me to deal with this issue, let's do it your way," not "ok well we will only do half of what we said we would do."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Missouri

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
