Cathy Seibel is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She joined the court in 2008 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Prior to her appointment to the federal bench, Seibel served as Deputy U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 2005 to 2008.[1]

Education

Born in West Islip, New York, Seibel graduated from Princeton University with her bachelor's degree in 1982 and later from Fordham School of Law with her J.D. degree in 1985.[1]

Judicial career

Southern district of New York

Seibel was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York by President George W. Bush on March 11, 2008, to a seat vacated by Richard Casey. Seibel was confirmed by the Senate on July 22, 2008, on a majority vote and received commission on July 30, 2008.[2]
