Charlie Gearing was born and raised in North Texas. He’s guided by the values he learned from his grandfather, a Southern Baptist minister who preached and advocated for desegregation.

Charlie’s parents run a small business and taught him the value of hard work. When the business hit tough times and the bank took their family home, Charlie watched as his parents rolled up their sleeves and built the business back stronger.

Charlie attended Duke University and Vanderbilt Law School. During college, he worked at the family business, and Charlie took out student loans to better his future.

In 2009, Charlie served as a law clerk for federal Judge Brian S. Miller, an appointee of President George W. Bush. He has practiced law in Dallas since 2010 for some of the best law firms in the country, including Haynes and Boone LLP and Figari + Davenport, LLP.

Charlie met his wife, Rachael, while volunteering at an event that provides food, clothing, and health screenings to veterans experiencing homelessness. Charlie and Rachael maintain service at the center of their family life. During Hurricane Harvey, they worked at the Dallas Convention Center helping displaced Texans with legal issues. They are regular volunteers at local area food banks and helped keep people in their homes who had lost jobs due to COVID-19 by providing free legal advice to those facing eviction.

  • Charlie will work to end childhood poverty and ensure that every Texan can see and afford a doctor.
  • Charlie will fight for rural broadband access and better infrastructure, and keep our communities safe.
  • As a proud gun owner, Charlie knows that we can protect the Second Amendment and pass commonsense background checks that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and keep our children safe.

Child poverty, homelessness, and voting rights.
