Elanor Chapin
Elanor Chapin (Democratic Party) (also known as Ela) is a member of the Vermont House of Representatives, representing Washington-5 District. She assumed office on January 4, 2023. Her current term ends on January 8, 2025.
Chapin (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the Vermont House of Representatives to represent Washington-5 District. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. She advanced from the Democratic primary on August 13, 2024.
Biography
Elanor Chapin was born in Calais, Vermont, and lives in East Montpelier. Chapin earned a bachelor’s in environmental science from Brown University in 1998 and a master’s degree in policy and planning from Tufts University in 2006. Chapin also earned a certificate in nonprofit management from Marlboro College. Her career experience includes working as the special programs coordinator for the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District and the viability director of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board. She also co-founded the Agricultural Viability Alliance and founded the National Farm Viability Conference.[1]
Chapin became a member of the Northern Forest Center's review committee for workforce housing projects. She also served on a variety of other boards, including the Community Capital of Vermont, the Agricultural Viability Alliance, the Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Initiative, Vermont Farm to Plate, and the Vermont Compost Association.[2]
