Harold Burton
Harold Hitz Burton was an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated to the court by President Harry Truman and served from 1945 to 1964. His last day of service was October 28, 1964, due to death.[1]
Burton was one of four justices nominated to the Supreme Court by President Truman. He served during The Stone Court, The Vinson Court and The Warren Court.[2]
Education
Burton received his A.B. from Bowdoin College in 1909 and a LL.D. from Harvard Law School in 1912.[1]

Federal judicial career
Justice Burton was nominated to the Supreme Court by Harry Truman on September 18, 1945. Burton was confirmed by the Senate on September 19, and received his commission on September 22nd. He assumed senior status on October 13, 1958. His service ended with his death on October 28, 1964.[1]
