As a resident District 7 I was born and raised where I desire to serve. I am also a proud homeowner who has raised my own family in the district for over 25years. I care about my community and want to create policies and support legislation that will benefit the residents of the district and the state. I formerly served District 7 as the Community Liaison for State Representative LaTanya Garrett. In that role, I listened to the needs of the district and made sure citizens were informed by providing legislative updates. I assisted Representative Garrett by working with state, county, and city officials an departments to assure the delivery of services and resolve problems within the district. I have gained a keen perspective of how Lansing operates, I know the district well an have developed relationships with the residents, businesses, and community organizations within Detroit and Highland Park. My leadership experience includes serving as a Vice Chair of the 14th Congressional District and also the 1st Vice Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, I am running because I have gained legislative experience and institutional knowledge I am prepared to serve the district on "Day 1".

  • I have the Integrity, Dedication, Commitment and Experience to serve the residents of District 7 and the State on "Day 1"
  • I know the district well and have worked with Representative LaTanya Garrett as her Community Liaison serving the residents of District 7.
  • I care about my community, I know the district well and have developed relationships that will enable me to deliver for the district.

I am passionate about Education, Economic Growth, Public Safety and Health Care.

My Mentor and Shero was my sister-in-law Brenda M. Scott former Detroit City Council Member. She was a fighter for workers, unions and women's rights. She was a fighter for the citizens of Detroit.

My first job was with United Airlines as a Sales and Service Instructor. I worked for United Airlines for 21 years.

I believe that the Governor should have a working relationship with the state legislature, this is beneficial to get things accomplished for the citizens of the state.

Yes, I believe its beneficial to build relationships with other legislators on both sides of the aisle, as a Democrat I would be open for discussion to get things accomplished for my district.

I would be interested in Appropriations, Education, Family Children and Seniors, or Health Policy

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Michigan

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Michigan scorecards, email suggestions to [email protected].
