2012
Mulroe's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[10]
- The Economy
- Excerpt: "Unemployment is a serious problem right now and we have to do more to create jobs."
- Education
- Excerpt: "I will use my background as an accountant to cut waste and inefficiency to ensure that we are protecting education funding. We have to make sure that our children have the resources they need to reach their full potential. If we rely on temporary fixes and half-measures, we are not going to help everyone."
- Government Reform
- Excerpt: "Our residents feel we have the most corrupt government in the nation. As a former prosecutor I am committed to seeing corrupt public officials put behind bars, but I am equally committed to making sure that history does not repeat itself."
- Leadership
- Excerpt: "If we are going to effectively address the problems facing our state, we have to put an end to the culture of corruption in Springfield. Legislation aimed at job creation, economic development, and education reform has to address the peoples' best interest."
- State Budget
- Excerpt: "We have to balance the budget and stabilize our state's finances by cutting waste and streamlining our limited resources. We need to have a system in place that determines the value of every dollar that is spent."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
