|Justin Hwang is a husband, a son, and a local restaurant owner who has lived in East Multnomah County since 2003. Born in South Korea in 1984, Hwang and his parents emigrated to the United States when he was young. When he's not busy in the kitchen or feeding the homeless at Zarephath Ministries in Gresham, Justin contributes to the community through volunteering. Justin sits on multiple boards, including Mount Hood Community College Foundation, Mount Hood Medical Center Foundation, and Korean War Memorial Association. He is also a member of the Gresham Chamber of Commerce and the Gresham Rotary Club. All families in East Multnomah County deserve a legislator who will fight for them. Justin Hwang always has had East Multnomah County in his best interest, ever since he was young. He is running for office to not only give back to his community, but also to address key issues impacting working families all over Oregon and in Senate District 25.
- JUSTIN WILL FIGHT TO PROTECT OUR WORKERS AND SMALL BUSINESSES!
- JUSTIN IS A LEADING VOICE FOR IMMIGRANTS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY!
- JUSTIN WILL BRING THE NECESSARY FUNDING TO OUR CLASSROOMS AND WILL ADDRESS THE HOMELESSNESS CRISIS!
1. Working families in East Multnomah County deserve a legislator who will fight for them. Like many small business owners in our community, Justin puts his employees first and sales second. This is one of the reasons why he earned the trust and support of our trades unions and why he hopes to earn yours. He will fight for workers and small business owners in our community by passing legislation which promotes economic growth and job availability for all.
2. As a first-generation immigrant, Justin will ensure all immigrants have access to the resources they need to thrive in our community. Justin will lead the way in Salem and oppose any legislation that may harm immigrants and their families.
3. Although there was much effort put into addressing education funding for Oregon's K-12, there was almost little to no effort put into addressing education funding for Mount Hood Community College, whose technical and career programs are the backbone of East Multnomah County. As a board member of Mount Hood Community College Foundation, Justin will make sure our schools get the necessary funding they deserve.
4. Homelessness is a multi-faceted issue and incessantly throwing taxpayer dollars at a complex problem is not a sustainable long-term solution. If elected, Justin will address key issues contributing to homelessness such as access to mental healthcare, support for our veterans, Oregon's restrictive land use system, and property tax rates for homebuyers.
