2014

Walker's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[9]

Helping Our Seniors

  • Excerpt: "Our seniors built our communities, and we need to help them by giving them the resources they deserve. Latrice will get funding for senior centers in the community, work to expand the STAR tax credit so seniors can afford to stay in their homes, get funding for Meals on Wheels, defend the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption, and help maintain Medicaid benefits."

Improving Public Safety

  • Excerpt: "Our neighborhoods have been too dangerous for too long, and it’s only getting worse. Latrice will work for more police patrols, community engagement, and youth programs—all aimed at keeping our streets safe."

Fixing NYCHA and Keeping It Safe

  • Excerpt: "NYCHA apartments are falling apart, and residents continue to be ignored. Latrice grew up in NYCHA and will be the voice of residents, working to complete long-delayed repairs. She will also fight to install more vertical patrol security cameras to keep residents, especially seniors, safe. She will also work to unify families, protect succession rights, and get key lock entry for residents."

Bringing Jobs to Our Community

  • Excerpt: "Our communities are often left behind when the economy improves in the rest of the city. Latrice will help gain access to essential job training programs, expand career and technical educational opportunities, and bring new business initiatives to the community that will help create jobs. She will also promote stronger Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE) goals."

Keeping Affordable Housing Affordable

  • Excerpt: "Rents keep going up, but our salaries stay the same. Latrice will fight to freeze rents and make sure that tenants’ rights are protected. She will work to get housing tax credits for community residents and stabilize the Mitchell-Lama program. Latrice plans to attract new affordable housing developments to the neighborhood, as well."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in New York

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
