Aloyisus Higginbotham
Aloyisus Leon Higginbotham, Jr. (1928-1998) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Higginbotham died on December 14, 1998.

Judicial nominations and appointments
Third Circuit
Higginbotham was nominated to the Third Circuit by President Jimmy Carter on September 19, 1977, to a seat vacated by Francis Van Dusen; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 7, 1977, and received commission four days later. He served as chief judge from 1990-1991. He assumed senior status on January 31, 1991, and retired on March 5, 1993.[1]
Eastern District of Pennsylvania
Higginbotham was given a recess appointment to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania by President Lyndon Johnson on January 6, 1964, to a seat vacated by James Ganey; he was nominated on February 3, 1964, confirmed by the Senate on March 14, 1964, and received commission three days later. He served the Eastern District of Pennsylvania until November 7, 1977, when he was elevated to the Third Circuit. Higginbotham was succeeded in this position by Louis Pollak.
