Marcia Morales Howard is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She joined the court in 2007 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Prior to appointment, Howard was a private practice attorney in Florida.[1]

Early life and education

A native of Florida, Howard graduated from Vanderbilt University with her bachelor's degree in 1987 and later graduated from the University of Florida College of Law with her juris doctorate degree in 1990.[1]

Professional career

Howard spent her entire pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney in the State of Florida from 1990 to 2003.[1]

Judicial career

Middle District of Florida

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Mel Martinez, Howard was nominated by George W. Bush on January 9, 2007 to a seat vacated by Harvey Schlesinger as Schlesinger assumed senior status.[2] Howard was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 15, 2007 on a Senate vote and received commission on February 20, 2007.[1]
