Marcia Morey (Democratic Party) is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 30. She assumed office on April 5, 2017. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Morey (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 30. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic primary for this office on March 5, 2024, was canceled.
Biography
Morey earned her undergraduate degree from Millikin University in Illinois, her master's degree in education from Reed College, and her J.D. from the Northwestern University Law School.[1] Her professional experience includes serving as the district court judge for the 14th Judicial District Court and as an assistant district attorney for the 14th Judicial District.[1]
Morey served as the district court judge for the 14th Judicial District Court, which presides over Durham County of North Carolina from 1999 to 2017. She served as chief district court judge from January 1, 2011, to her appointment to the North Carolina state House on April 5, 2017.[2]

Morey was re-elected to the 14th Judicial District Court after running unopposed.[3]
In advance of the 2014 election, the North Carolina Bar Association surveyed attorneys on the performance of judges whose terms were expiring. Morey scored 4.31 out of a possible 5 points.[4][5][6]
