Larry Vollmer was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Mark Messmer defeated Ted Metzger in the Republican primary. Messmer defeated Vollmer in the general election.[1][2]

Messmer defeated Democratic candidate Daniel Steiner by a margin of 13,713 to 5,108 to win re-election.[5] The general election took place on November 2, 2010.
