Martin Baker
Martin Baker (independent) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Missouri's 1st Congressional District. He lost as a write-in in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Baker was a 2014 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Missouri. He was also a candidate in the 2012 Republican primary but was defeated by Robyn Hamlin.[1] He was defeated by Daniel Elder in the Republican primary on August 5, 2014.[2]
Biography
Baker was born and raised in southeastern Missouri, where he graduated from Sikeston High School. He studied at the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he became involved in student government. He has worked as a consultant and recruiter for various political campaigns, most recently in his role as founder of MoveOnUp.org, an African-American conservative organization.[3]
