Michael Gianaris (Democratic Party) is a member of the New York State Senate, representing District 12. He assumed office in 2011. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Gianaris (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) is running for re-election to the New York State Senate to represent District 12. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic and Working Families Party primaries for this office on June 25, 2024, were canceled.
Gianaris represented District 36 in the New York State Assembly from 2001 to 2011. His political experience includes being counsel for the Speaker of the New York Assembly and a member of Queens Community Planning Board #1.
Biography
Gianaris earned his B.A. in economics and political science from Fordham University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.[1] His professional experience includes working as associate counsel for New York State Assembly, as a associate for Chadbourne and Parke Limited Liability Partnership, as a Queens County Regional Representative for Governor Mario Cuomo and as an aide for United States Congressman Thomas Manton.
