The New York lieutenant gubernatorial election of 2010 was held on November 2, 2010. The primary election date was September 14. The deadline for filing nomination papers was in July 2010.[1]
Polling hours were 6:00 am to 9:00 pm on all elections days. However, only the seven counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, and Erie were open for balloting at 6:00 am. All other counties' polls opened at noon.
New York is among six states that elect the nominees for lt. governor and governor in separate primaries and then have the respective winners share a ticket for the general election. After winning the GOP nod, Gregory Edwards ran with Carl P. Paladino, whose volatile personality shaped the campaign. Democrat Robert Duffy paired up with Andrew Cuomo, and the team went on to win a 30 point victory.

Candidates
Lieutenant Governors are elected on a ticket with gubernatorial candidates.
New York election law allows candidates to receive endorsements from, and campaign under the names of, multiple parties, accounting for the fact that some candidates are listed under multiple party headings. Candidates have an incentive to do so as their name appears on the ballot next to each party whose endorsement they have gained and they are allowed to count the total votes received under all ballot lines with their name.
