A special election for the position of New York State Assembly District 128 was called for November 3. A Democratic primary election took place on September 10, 2015.[5]

The seat was vacant following Sam Roberts' (D) resignation on June 25, 2015, to become commissioner of the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.[6]

Pamela Hunter defeated David Stott and Jean Kessner in the Democratic primary. Stott also ran on the Conservative Party ticket. Hunter defeated Stott (C) and John W. Sharon (R,I) in the special election.[7][8]
