Campaign website
McCormick's campaign website stated the following:
“ |
Climate Change We must act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sequester carbon. Both of these are critical pieces of the solution. We must use modern farming and plant native trees to sequester carbon back into the soil. We must promote walkable communities and innovative technologies to reduce our carbon output.
We cannot allow women and doctors to be arrested for private healthcare decisions made under medical supervision. I’ll work to ensure that every woman has the right to make her own healthcare decisions privately with her doctor. Every woman deserves equal pay and a safe workplace free from harassment.
We need to invest in quality careers for us right now and for our children in the future. Workers deserve the right to organize and negotiate for safe working conditions and good wages. Our communities need affordable housing. Our communities need well-supported first responders to help us keep our streets and neighborhoods safe.
Affordable housing is the backbone of our communities, leading to quality schools and good jobs while building strong, close knit communities. Neighborhood investments, affordable rents and mortgages and safe streets are how we grow our future. Ending foreign speculation and corporate ownership will make sure families can afford their own home.
Indiana ranks towards the bottom of states for rural access to healthcare. Half of our Southwestern Indiana counties do not even have a hospital. It is time to modernize this system. No one should have to drive an hour to receive affordable and adequate care. Families deserve this as a right in our communities. When elected I will: expand remote health services, develop legislation and incentivize to build and support primary care facilities and cut bureaucratic paperwork to streamline healthcare delivery
Student loan interest should be capped at 1.5%. Colleges & trade schools must be affordable. Child care must be affordable. K-12 students should never have to pay for text books or school lunches. We need to stop meddling with schools and let teachers teach.
I am a hunter and gun owner. I cherish my 2nd Amendment rights. I will never let anyone take my guns or yours. I own a duck hunting business. Before I take any one out I make sure they understand firearm safety. I believe anyone buying a firearm should know how to use it and how to handle it safely. I want hunting organizations, law enforcement, gun manufactures, gun dealers and gun owners to come up with a plan to make sure first time buyers know how to properly use and store their firearm. I believe hand gun should get held to a higher standard that long guns with increased training and a minimal age to buy. Most importantly we need to deal with increased gun violence with in our Constitution.
There is no bigger issue for our families than good jobs. Our health care, environment, schools, infrastructure, and quality of life all begin with good jobs. There is simply nothing more important. Being forced to work three part time jobs to make ends meet is wrong. Being constantly worried about being laid off or fired is wrong. Having to juggle work with caring for a baby or elderly parent is wrong. Always struggling to find safe affordable child care is wrong. And living in fear that you won’t be able to pay bills if you get hurt or sick or even worse, that your job will kill you, is absolutely wrong. It is not who we are as a nation and business must not be allowed to treat workers as disposable slaves. Workers built every inch of the nation and they must always be front and center in every law we pass. We need to end “Right to work” scam laws, ensure prevailing wage, and enforce work place safety.
Our rights and American democracy are under attack. We need to enact term limits, campaign finance reforms, and nationwide ethics laws to ensure that we have a level playing field. ALL voters must have equal and secure access to vote and be heard.[2] |
