Campaign website
Stoltzfus’s campaign website stated the following:
“ |
FIGHT FOR AMERICA FIRST CONSERVATIVE VALUES I wrote the bill to designate “Trump Day” in Ohio to recognize and honor the America First conservative values we need to celebrate and champion. Less spending, lower taxes, more individual freedoms, a reduced burden of government, support for our military and law enforcement, American exceptionalism and individual accountability are the main tenets of what I look for from government and believe we need from our next representative in Congress. GET AMERICA’S FISCAL HOUSE IN ORDER I’ll support a Balanced Budget Amendment so we can finally start identifying the line items in our bloated budget that should be eliminated. SECURE THE BORDER I’ll be a strong supporter of building the wall to help stop the flow of drugs that are devastating our local communities and snuffing out the hope all individuals should have for a brighter future. ENERGY INDEPENDENCE Government needs to streamline the permitting process so producers have confidence in their future investments and provide a greater cyber-infrastructure to protect oil and gas companies from online attacks.[2] |

Reggie Stoltzfus participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 8, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Reggie Stoltzfus' responses follow below.[4]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1) Job Creation |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | Job creation and growing Ohio's economy are very important to me. I have first hand experience at creating jobs and growing Ohio's economy. I own and operate several small businesses in Stark county which I built from the ground up. I employ forty people from the surrounding communities. I understand what is needed for jobs to be created and for Ohio's economy to grow. Small businesses are the engine of our economy and we must ensure that engine is firing on all cylinders. As a legislator I will work to get rid of needless regulations and taxes that hamstring small businesses from expanding and creating jobs. Infrastructure is also an important component of growing Ohio's economy. I will work to turn the two lane Route 30 into the four lane it should be. The Route 30 project is critical for our regions future economic success. Oil and gas producers need a four lane highway to operate more efficiently so they can get their product to market faster. Many other industries that utilize Ohio's natural resources will move into the region if there is a good way to move their products to market.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[2]
|
” |
Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Reggie Stoltzfus answered the following:
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
“ | Ronald Reagan is someone who's example I would like to follow. Mr. Reagan was one of the greatest leaders of all time. His influence and decisions changed the course of the world as we know it.[2] | ” |
“ | A great book "Democracy In America" by Alexis De Tocqueville. This book goes into great detail of how and why our great country America has stood the test of time.[2] | ” |
“ | To be a great elected official one must have a moral compass and possess honesty and integrity. Elected officials are representatives of the people who elected them and must not forget that.[2] | ” |
“ | The qualities I possess that would make me a successful officeholder is my previous experience as a Township Trustee. But even more important than that, my real life experiences of starting a small business and understanding everything that goes into creating a successful company.[2] | ” |
“ | My first real job was working at the Hartville Flea Market when I was fourteen, I worked there for two summers.[2] | ” |
“ | My favorite holiday is Easter because I get to celebrate the resurrection of my Lord Jesus Christ.[2] | ” |
“ | One of my most favorite things in my home is the globe in my office. My children often spin it around and pick a location on the globe and ask questions about their pick. This makes for some great teachable moments.[2] | ” |
“ | Sure, its always good to have experience in a field that one is entering into, but I believe the most important experience is real life experience. This kind of experience comes with time and responsibility.[2] | ” |
“ | I believe it is very important to build relationships with other legislators. These are people I will be working with on a daily basis and need to know the background of why they believe what they believe, and why they stand for what they stand for. When people understand each other there is a mutual respect that is formed and working together becomes much easier.[2] | ” |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
