Sam A. Lindsay is a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He joined the court in 1998 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton.

Early life and education

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Lindsay graduated from St. Mary's University with his bachelor's degree in 1974 and from the University of Texas School of Law with his J.D. in 1977.[1]

Lindsay was nominated by President Bill Clinton on November 8, 1997, to a new judgeship on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas created by 104 Stat. 5089. The American Bar Association rated Lindsay Unanimously Qualified for the nomination. Hearings on Lindsay's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 25, 1998, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on March 5, 1998. Lindsay was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on March 11, 1998, and he received his commission on March 17, 1998.[1][2][3]
