|Hello, Our country is divided by our inability to listen and find the middle-ground in order to solve the problems of our day. We have intense opinions on both sides of the political spectrum, and it seems that the middle majority is being ignored. The extreme red and the extreme blue are yelling the loudest, and their unwillingness to truly look at an issue from the opposite side is holding us in gridlock and creating a "Us Vs. Them" mentality. We are all Americans, and I want to serve as a reminder of that.
Through collecting my 900 signatures in-lieu of the candidate filing fee, I connected with liberals, conservatives, in-betweens, extremists, and non-voters. As a young candidate, I hope to learn from all of them, form opinions based on reliable, factual sources and encourage others to do the same.
My interests include government, philosophy, working at the KCAT TV 15 community cable station, and creating in the Los Gatos High School Theater Department.
- To inspire young people to vote and get involved in their government.
- Listening, learning, and working together to work towards solving problems.
- To address issues like affordable housing, living wage, cost of education, the environment, campaign finance reform, homelessness, and transportation in our state.
Our founders were fearful of a two-party system. The time has come to focus on solving problems rather than the disputes between the two parties. My generation can be one that is focused less on party ideology and more on common sense. I ask for your vote on March 3rd.
Thank you,
Sam Ross
