Shiro Kashiwa
Shiro Kashiwa (1912-1998) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Claims.
Education
Kashiwa earned his B.S. from the University of Michigan in 1935. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1936.[1]
Professional career
Kashiwa worked in private practice in Honolulu, Hawaii, from 1937 to 1959. He then worked as State Attorney General for Hawaii from 1959 to 1963. He went back to private practice from 1963 to 1969. From 1969 to 1972 he was Assistant U.S. Attorney General for the Land and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.[1]
Federal judicial service
Kashiwa was nominated to the Court of Claims by President Richard Nixon, and he received his commission on January 3, 1972. He served the Court of Claims until his reassignment to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on October 1, 1982. His service was terminated on January 7, 1986 due to his retirement.[2][1]
