Terence Evans
Terence Thomas Evans was a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. He joined the court in 1995 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton and served the court until his death on August 10, 2011.[1][2]
Early life and education
A native of Milwaukee, Evans graduated from Marquette University with his bachelor's degree in 1962 and later graduated from Marquette University Law School with his J.D. degree in 1967.[3]

- 1974-1978: Judge, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin
- 1970-1974: Attorney in private practie
- 1968-1970: Assistant district attorney, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- 1967-1968: Law clerk for Hon. Horace W. Wilkie on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, 1967-1968[3]
Judicial career
Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals
On the unanimous recommendation of U.S. Senators Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold, Evans was nominated by President Bill Clinton on April 25, 1995, to a seat vacated by Judge Richard Cudahy as Cudahy assumed senior status. Evans was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 11, 1995, on a majority voice vote and received commission on August 11, 1995.[4]
Eastern District of Wisconsin
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator William Proxmire, Evans was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on July 21, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. Evans was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 31, 1979, and received commission on November 2, 1979. Evans served as the chief judge of the court from 1991 to 1995 before leaving the Eastern District of Wisconsin on August 11, 1995, due to his appointment to the Seventh Circuit.[3] Evans was succeeded in this position by Charles Clevert
