Aalders was a 2014 Independent American candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Utah.[1] Tim Aalders lost the general election on November 4, 2014.

Aalders was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from Utah.

Jobs & Economy

Tim knows the best way to create jobs and grow the economy is to get government out of the way and let small business owners do what they do best innovate and create new jobs. I will fight alongside conservative Republicans to significantly reduce regulations. The president's significant cuts in bureaucratic regulations have led to the economic turnaround we experienced. I will continue to work to cut taxes, promote free markets, and control government spending.


Foreign Relations

America was never intended to be the police of the world. It saddens me to see countries who our brave men and women have helped liberate turn on our soldiers the weapons we provide them. America must never answer to socialist nations who are members of the UN, NATO, or world trade organizations. Our nation should maintain strong working relationships with our allies and stand firm against those who mean to do us harm.


Border / Immigration

As the son of immigrants, I am grateful that America welcomed my parents to be part of this great country. My parents wasted no time in getting jobs to ensure they would not be a burden on other Americans. They accepted the culture, learned English, and sent a son to defend our country. Today, many people seem not to understand the distinction between legal and illegal immigration. While America's need for immigrants cannot be denied, neither can our need to carefully vet those entering our country.

Much of the heated debate about border enforcement is unnecessary. Americans agree that we do not want terrorism, weapon and drug smuggling, nor child sex trafficking to happen. We also cannot have people sneaking across without any kind of vetting process. Would anybody you know allow a stranger to walk into their house and stay without knowing them? The same should go for our country. America is kind to immigrants as our nation permits the entrance of millions each year; however, every country sets caps on how many people it can accept based on employment opportunities and current economic data.

We need to eliminate economic incentives the Federal government offers to some in this country who are here illegally. Illegal immigrants know that by coming here they can get free help using medical, food, and welfare benefits. Once we remove these economic benefits, those who do not truly love America will return to their country of origin. Second, we are $21 trillion dollars in debt and we cannot afford it. There is not enough money to go around. We do a poor job of taking care of Americans who are in need, which puts a heavy strain on our efforts to help our immediate American neighbors. Our resources are already stretched thin. I firmly believe that "good fences make good neighbors" Most of the rich and famous who protest the border wall have huge fences for privacy around their mansions or live in gated communities. The protection of the privacy, security, and property of the average American is any less worth.

How are we to expect illegal immigrants to begin productive lives and obey the laws of our nation by violating the laws of the land upon entry? We must secure our borders and every immigrant must enter legally.


The 2nd Amendment

I proudly support or 2nd Amendment Rights. The Second Amendment was and should always remain as the people's final protection of our unalienable rights. It is a right that should not be infringed upon and any politician or Supreme Court justice that decides to infringe upon that right, is violating their oath and should be removed.



Pro-Life

Our Declaration of Independence highlights the value of every life. We have a sacred duty to protect every life; especially the innocent unborn. I strongly support the repeal of Roe vs. Wade.


Military

The first charge of the Constitution is to provide for the national defense, and I take that responsibility seriously. I know the United States must be strong enough to prevent countries like Russia, China, and North Korea from pushing us and our allies around. We need to draw firm lines and show them that America is not to be trifled with. Our men and women in military fight constant and evolving threats, and they must have the resources they need to keep us safe. Our promise to them does not end when they return home, and we will continue to fight to take care of those who have taken care of us.


Education

Education should be a locally controlled issue. Utah parents and educators know what's best for our children. I oppose the Progressives in Washington and their liberal special interest groups deciding what is best for our children.


The U.S. Constitution

Many people today seem to believe the Constitution is outdated and not made for our current society. The Preamble to the Constitution states clearly: "And secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." The Constitution has never failed us, but career politicians have failed the Constitution. The Constitution empowers us, "We the People," to control government. I believe we have lost that power in Washington.

The Constitution is a framework for our government and our country. It is not meant to address every societal and technological change; nor should it. Human nature makes it necessary to have a Constitution and, more importantly, have one that prevents the abuse of power. That's why a separation of power and the system of checks and balances were included. While those who signed the Constitution may have had their own views of what American society should look like, they wanted the U.S. government to be limited enough to allow change to occur organically.

The Constitution created a way to make Amendments for changing times but these amendments should never change the original function of the government or hinder any of the original ten amendments. The Constitution granted recognition of our unalienable rights, mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, and not to be infringed upon. Any government law that restricts or changes those rights, is in violation of our rights and treasonous by the government agency who swore oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution.

My view is that the Constitution is our contract with government giving us full control. Many have forgotten that as they have allowed our representatives to operate outside of the parameters of the Constitution. We can return to American values and punish those who violate this sacred document, but in order to do so, we need to stop catering to political partisan alliances that are responsible for the decline of our freedoms.


Government Spending

In Utah, we know the value of a dollar. My neighbors and I balance our personal family budgets as well as our businesses' budgets. The United States government should not be exempt. Politicians in Washington have violated their oath and promise placing our country in immediate peril by governing well beyond our means. Fixing these issues are going to be painful but necessary to protect this country for our posterity. I stand ready to make the tough decisions to prevent placing our children and our children's children in a cycle of overwhelming debt.[5]

Jobs & Economy
Through trade, we currently have created millionaires out of the military industrial complex while destroying manufacturing throughout America. This is also a painful fix but America is Great because the people here are willing to make sacrifices to save freedom.

Military
We need a strong military to protect us in such a hateful world but we are not the worlds police. We cannot change Iran, Iraq or any other nation of the world unless we occupy for generations and indoctrinate their youth like we have allowed liberals to do here.

Education
It was always meant and should be handled on local level. Here in Utah I am sick of Progressives in Washington and special interest groups deciding what is best for our children.
