Tom Holland (Democratic Party) is a member of the Kansas State Senate, representing District 3. He assumed office in 2009. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.

Holland (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Kansas State Senate to represent District 3. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Holland has served as Minority Caucus Chair. He served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2008.

Biography

Holland earned his B.S. in business administration from Indiana University in 1982 and his MBA from the University of Minnesota in 1987. His professional experience includes working as owner and president of Holland Technologies, Incorporated.[1]

Holland won re-election in the 2012 election for Kansas State Senate District 3. Holland ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and defeated Anthony Brown (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7]

Holland was defeated by Sam Brownback (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010. Holland was unopposed in the August 3 primary.

Oct. 7, 2010 debate

In the gubernatorial debate on October 7, 2010 on KWCH, all four candidates for Kansas governor said they were against the statewide smoking ban and exempting the state-owned casinos from it.

Holland said:

In the legislature, I voted against the statewide smoking ban. I believe these issues are best left to local control, local units of government.[8]

On November 4, 2008, Holland was elected to the 3rd District Seat in the Kansas State Senate, defeating Roger C. Pine (R) and Patrick Wilbur (L).[9] Holland raised $190,461 for his campaign, while Pine raised $100,094 and Wilbur raised $5,085.[10]
