William Eisner is a Partner in Nonbox, a strategic communications company. Eisner is head of the Milwaukee-based Midwest division of the company. Eisner went to work for his father's advertising agency in 1978 until his father's passing in 1990. In 1999, he partnered with Steve Karakas and Dave Parmley in Portland, Ore. and formed Nonbox. He received an undergraduate degree and a masters in journalism-advertising from Northwestern University.[1]

Two John Doe investigations, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015, were launched by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm (D) into the activities of staff and associates of Gov. Scott Walker (R).[2] In the early morning hours of October 3, 2013, officers and Milwaukee County DA investigators carried out raids on several homes located in four counties across Wisconsin. There were also several subpoenas served to a number of conservative organizations.[3][4] On October 21, 2013, a second round of subpoenas went out for additional bank records.[5] The investigators subpoenaed Eisner, Nonbox and all Eisner's communications. Eisner was involved in media ads run by the Wisconsin Club for Growth (WCFG) during the 2012 recall elections.[6]
