  • Cavs re-sign Emoni Bates to two-way contract
The Cavaliers have re-signed Emoni Bates on a two-way contract.

Advice: After spending his rookie campaign on a two-way contract, Bates will return to the Cavaliers on similar terms. He appeared in 15 NBA games in 2023-24, averaging 2.7 points and 0.9 rebounds in under nine minutes. Even if Cleveland does not bring back Isaac Okoro, who remains a restricted free agent, Bates is unlikely to get the run needed to make a dent in fantasy basketball. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:50 pm
  • On track for training camp
Irving (hand) has been cleared for limited work during the offseason and remains on track for the start of training camp, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.

Advice: Several Mavericks are practicing together in Los Angeles this week, including new addition Klay Thompson. Irving is with the group, but he's not participating in any scrimmages yet while working his way back from offseason hand surgery. Dallas made a surprise run to the NBA Finals last year but fizzled out and looked overmatched against Boston. A healthy Irving will be key if the Mavericks hope to replicate their success in 2024-25, so don't be surprised if he's limited to begin preseason work as a precaution. Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.0 minutes across 58 appearances during his first full season with Dallas last year. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:28 pm

  • Joins Utah on one-year deal
Mills and the Jazz agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract Wednesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Advice: The deal is fully guaranteed and Mills will reunite with coach Will Hardy in what will be the point guard's 16th NBA season. Mills looked sharp during the Paris Olympics for Australia, and he'll be a valuable veteran addition to the Utah locker room. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:28 am
  • Dealing with minor leg injury
Haliburton is dealing with a minor leg injury that restricted his playing time during the Paris Olympics, Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports.

Advice: Haliburton was under a minutes restriction during the Paris Olympics due to the injury, and he underwent an MRI that was not previously announced by Team USA. The 24-year-old saw very little action in the Olympic Games, but the fact that he played at all bodes well for his full return to action in the Pacers' training camp this fall. Haliburton and the Pacers are coming off a deep playoff run during which the superstar dealt with a litany of injuries, including a left hamstring injury, left leg soreness, a right ankle sprain, a sacral contusion and lower back spasms. • Waived by Utah
The Jazz waived Kinsey on Monday, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.

Advice: After signing a two-way pact with the Jazz in July, Kinsey will become a free agent and look to secure a new contract elsewhere. The 24-year-old spent 2023-24 with the Salt Lake City Stars, Utah's G League affiliate, during which he averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 26.9 minutes per game in 16 regular-season appearances.
