Recognizing exceptional international journalists through the ICFJ Knight Awards is one of the things I look forward to every year. Once you see their work and hear their stories, you won’t forget them. These journalists are an inspiration, and this year is no exception. Today I am honored to introduce you to our 2024 winners: ~John-Allan Namu, a reporter and media entrepreneur who has been at the forefront of investigative journalism in Kenya, exposing corruption and highlighting its impact on ordinary citizens. ~Rana Sabbagh of Jordan, a renowned editor who has helped build a vibrant investigative reporting culture across the Middle East, training a generation of investigative reporters and editors. ~Valeriya Yegoshyna, an intrepid journalist who is documenting the impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine, including evidence of war crimes, details about a secretive Russian paramilitary force and more. John-Allan, Rana and Valeriya stand out for their brave work exposing abuses of power, in places where it is both highly challenging and dangerous. Their outstanding journalism has led to greater accountability and change. You can hear their stories and meet them in person this November in Washington, DC, at ICFJ’s 40th Anniversary Tribute to Journalists. Kristen Welker, the moderator of NBC News’ Meet the Press, will be our emcee. My sincere thanks to the ICFJ team (who went through nearly 250 nominations) and to our distinguished judges for all they invested in the selection process. Now please join me in congratulating John-Allan, Rana and Valeriya. https://lnkd.in/eCcrWRRj #Journalism #JournalismAwards #InternationalReporting
