CBS Announces Hollywood Squares Host; After Midnight Renewed for 2024-25
CBS announced Nate Burleson (co-host of CBS Mornings and analyst for The NFL Today) will host the new edition of the legendary game show Hollywood Squares. The celebrity-stacked game show, starring Drew Barrymore as the famed center square, will air Wednesdays (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) starting in January on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Hollywood Squares starring Drew Barrymore, is a classic game show in which two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The "board" for the game is a vertical stack of open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity seated at a desk and facing the contestants. The celebrities are asked questions and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game. Award-winning actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore will take her place as the famed center square, answering questions for the contestants.
CBS announced its late-night series After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, has been renewed for the 2024-2025 broadcast season. Inspired by Comedy Central's Emmy Award-winning series @midnight, with celebrated comedian Taylor Tomlinson at the helm and a panel of guests from the worlds of entertainment, comedy, music and beyond, After Midnight is a late-night comedy series about what set the internet abuzz that day. After Midnight, from CBS Studios, Spartina Industries and Funny Or Die, is executive produced by Stephen Colbert, Carrie Byalick, Tom Purcell and Evelyn McGee Colbert of Spartina Industries; James Dixon of Dixon Talent; Jack Martin; Joe Farrell; Mike Farah; Whitney Hodack and Henry R. Muñoz III of Funny Or Die; and Jason U. Nadler of Serious Business. Jo Firestone is co-executive producer and head writer while Alexx Wells also serves as co-executive producer. Sharon Everitt directs. After Midnight airs on the CBS Television Network at 12:35 AM, ET/PT and is available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

The wait is finally over! NBC 2024-25 Comedy Slate, Reba Sitcom Picked Up; CBS Summer 2024 Schedule
NBC has solidified its comedy slate for the 2024-25 season with the season three renewal of multi-camera sitcom Lopez vs. Lopez as well as a series order for multi-camera sitcom Happy's Place starring Reba McEntire. The two join the recently renewed multi-camera sitcom Night Court for Season 3 and upcoming new single-camera comedy St. Denis Medical. Meanwhile, NBC has canceled multi-camera sitcom Extended Family.
For Lopez vs. Lopez, in its just concluded second season, Mayan and the Lopez family underwent big changes while George took his first step in sobriety. The series is the highest-indexing broadcast program among English-dominant Hispanic households. George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, Selenis Leyva, Matt Shively, Brice Gonzalez and Al Madrigal star. In Happy's Place, Bobbie (Reba McEntire) inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The series stars Reba McEntire, Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn.
CBS announced premiere dates for its summer slate. The summer lineup launches with the Network debut of Paramount+ series Tulsa King Sunday, July 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), followed by the season 26 premiere of Big Brother Wednesday, July 17 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). Big Brother will air Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays - all at 9pm. The new true-crime series The Real CSI: Miami launches Wednesday, June 26 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) and Let's Make a Deal Primetime premieres Wednesday, Aug. 7 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT). Paramount+ Gets The Neighborhood Spin-Off; First Look at Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik Reunion on Young Sheldon
Paramount+ announced a new series order for Crutch, a half-hour multi-camera comedy starring Tracy Morgan, which will be set in the world of the CBS Networks' hit comedy The Neighborhood. The series centers on its titular character, Francois "Frank" Crutchfield (Morgan) - or "Crutch" to those that know him well - a Harlem widower whose empty nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home. The series is produced by CBS Studios and is slated to begin production later this year. Hailing from Cedric The Entertainer and his production company, A Bird and a Bear Entertainment, the series is executive produced by Cedric and Eric C. Rhone; along with Owen Smith, who wrote the premiere script and will also serve as showrunner; Aaron Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment; Wendi Trilling for TrillTV; and Tracy Morgan. The series also reunites Morgan with Smith, who served as showrunner and executive producer on The Last O.G. in which Morgan starred.
Crutch is the latest series to join Paramount+'s growing lineup of original comedies like Frasier, Colin from Accounts and dark comedy Tulsa King, all of which will return for new seasons this fall. In addition, Paramount+ is the subscription streaming home to CBS' lineup of acclaimed comedies including Ghosts, The Neighborhood, Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik reprise their roles of Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in the series finale of Young Sheldon, Thursday, May 16 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT and 8:31 - 9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs), and we have a first look for you! The pair last appeared on screen together in The Big Bang Theory series finale, which aired in May 2019. Parsons serves as an executive producer and the narrator of Young Sheldon. Bialik has also appeared in voiceover form in two episodes of the series. This marks the first on-camera return of their characters.
Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, Young Sheldon centers on Sheldon Cooper, a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science, which isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. For 12 years on The Big Bang Theory, audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. This single-camera, half-hour comedy takes viewers through his childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become.

CBS Brings Back Lingo This Summer; The Daily Show Adds to All-Star News Team
CBS announced the word-twisting game show Lingo, hosted and executive produced by Emmy Award winner RuPaul Charles, will return for its second season Friday, May 24 with two back-to-back episodes (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). Following the premiere, the series will air in its regular time period Fridays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs).
Lingo is the supercharged word-twisting, fast-thinking game show. Host RuPaul Charles brings his one-of-a-kind personality to this clever, competitive and unpredictable game where teams of two face off in fast-paced puzzle rounds to guess letters that reveal seemingly simple words. Brand new for season two is the twist where the winner for each one-hour episode, packed with witty commentary and gameplay, goes on to compete in the next episode, allowing for longer winning streaks and even bigger cash prizes.
On the heels of The Daily Show's huge ratings growth, Comedy Central's EMMY(R) Award-winning late-night franchise is expanding its All-Star News Team. The show enlists Troy Iwata, Josh Johnson, and Grace Kuhlenschmidt as Correspondents. ABC Renews The Rookie for Season 7; CBS Orders New Soap Opera The Gates
No surprise, ABC has renewed The Rookie for a seventh season. The drama airs Tuesday nights on ABC at 9pm. John Nolan, once the oldest rookie in the LAPD, has used his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior. Nolan feels like it can't get much better, now that his life with Bailey is moving forward, and he has chosen his career path. However, he and his team must grapple with the aftermath of their recent assaults before they can move forward. The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey, Melissa O'Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, Tru Valentino as Aaron Thorsen, and Lisseth Chavez as Celina Juarez.
CBS announced the series order for the new daytime drama The Gates for broadcast on the Network in January 2025. The specific time period, launch date and other series details will be announced at later dates. The Gates follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community. Michele Val Jean, who has written more than 2,000 episodes of daytime dramas and won multiple Daytime Emmy and WGA Awards for her work on The Bold & The Beautiful and General Hospital, will serve as writer and showrunner. Val Jean will also be an executive producer alongside Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson and Kimberly Doebereiner. The Gates was developed from the joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP. The series will be produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP venture in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble.

Netflix Orders Tom Segura Comedy Series; Surprise! S.W.A.T. Gets Uncanceled...Again
Netflix announces a new comedy series from Tom Segura. The series goes into production later this year and will premiere in 2025. The series is a 6-episode dark comedy that centers on Segura, who also serves as the show's Narrator, as he takes us through each episode in a series of vignettes. The twisted comedic sensibility of Tom's standup is the core DNA of this series, where every story will unfold in a hilariously disturbing way only he could imagine. Jeremy Konner will serve as head writer (Drunk History, Another Period, Waffles & Mochi). Netflix picked up the series based on a pilot Tom fully produced, that was written by Tom. Rami Hachach directed the pilot. Tom Segura and Ryan Hall will produce through YMH Studios.
Surprise! CBS announced that it has now renewed the hit drama series S.W.A.T. for the 2024-2025 season. The series will return for its eighth year on the Network. The seventh season was going to be its last, but now it won't be! S.W.A.T. is produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with CBS Studios. Shemar Moore, Jay Harrington, David Lim, Patrick St. Esprit, Rochelle Aytes and Anna Enger Ritch star. Shawn Ryan, Andrew Dettmann, Justin Lin, Neal H. Moritz, Marney Hochman, Pavun Shetty, Billy Gierhart, Shemar Moore and James Scura serve as executive producers. S.W.A.T. is produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with CBS Studios. This renewal brings NCIS through its 22nd season. NCIS airs on Mondays at 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT. The Neighborhood is currently in its sixth season. This renewal brings The Neighborhood through its seventh season. The Neighborhood airs on Mondays at 8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT. Best known for her starring role in the Max Original comedy series Hacks, Hannah Einbinder will tape her first stand-up comedy special in front of a live audience at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on April 20. The special will air exclusively on Max this June. Hannah Einbinder stars in Hacks, which returns for its third season on May 2. Einbinder's performance in Hacks has earned her numerous accolades, including two Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. CBS Renews Ghosts and Fire Country; Apple TV+ Orders Owen Wilson Comedy
CBS announced the comedy series Ghosts and drama Fire Country have been renewed for the 2024-2025 season. Ghosts streaming viewership is up +64% year over year and ranked as the #1 comedy on Paramount+ in February. The season three premiere of Ghosts was the series' most-watched episode ever on a Live+SD basis. Ghosts airs on Thursdays at 8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT. Streaming viewership has more than doubled for Fire Country and is a top six series on Paramount+ and ranked as the #4 drama on the service in the month of February. The series is a time period winner and a key part of CBS' Friday night lineup. Fire Country airs on Fridays at 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT. Both seriies air on the CBS Television Network and are available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after it airs). Both series are produced by CBS Studios.
Ghosts stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as a couple that inherits a rundown mansion in upstate New York that they decide to convert into a bed & breakfast. Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky and Devon Chandler Long also star. Fire Country stars Max Thieriot, as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer also star.
Apple TV+ announced it will expand its award-winning comedy slate with a new 10-episode comedy starring and executive produced by Owen Wilson (Loki, The Royal Tenenbaums, Midnight in Paris) and created, written by and executive produced by Jason Keller (Ford v Ferrari). Starring Wilson in the lead role, the comedy follows Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom.
Hailing from Apple Studios, the untiled series will be directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Fleishman is in Trouble, Little Miss Sunshine, Battle of the Sexes), and executive produced by Propagate Content's Ben Silverman, Howard T. Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik Reprising Their Characters from Big Bang; Monsters at Work Returns for Season 2
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles of Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in the series finale of Young Sheldon, airing Thursday, May 16 on CBS, and streaming on Paramount+. Details of the appearance are being kept under wraps. The pair last appeared on screen together in The Big Bang Theory series finale, which aired in May 2019. Parsons serves as an executive producer and the narrator of Young Sheldon. Bialik has also appeared in voiceover form in two episodes of the series. This will mark the first on-camera return of their characters. The series stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Emily Osment and Jim Parsons (as the voice of Sheldon). Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, Steve Holland, Nick Bakay, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak serve as executive producers.
The EmmyⓇ-winning animated comedy series Monsters at Work, inspired by Disney and Pixar's AwardⓇ-winning Monsters, Inc., returns for season two with a special two-episode premiere on Friday, April 5 (8:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney Channel and Disney XD. CBS Orders Multi-Camera Spin-off of Young Sheldon; FETV Acquires Highway Patrol
CBS announced a series order for a new half-hour, multi-camera comedy starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment for broadcast in the 2024-2025 season. Created by the producing team behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, the sequel follows Young Sheldon's Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.
Young Sheldon has been a consistent ratings winner. It premiered as the #1 new comedy of the 2017-2018 television season and became the #1 comedy in the 2019-2020 season after The Big Bang Theory completed its run. Young Sheldon returned for its seventh and final season on Feb. 15 and remains television's #1 comedy. With seven days of viewing across all platforms (linear + streaming), the season seven premiere averaged 11.2 million viewers and is up +18% from its year ago debut. FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced today that Highway Patrol will join the network's programming lineup beginning Monday, April 1. The show will debut in its regular time slot every morning at 7a ET. To celebrate the launch of the show, FETV will conduct a Watch & Win Trivia Contest during telecasts of Highway Patrol the week of April 8. Highway Patrol stars Broderick Crawford as Dan Mathews, a dedicated chief of a police force in an unspecified Western state. Episodes were based on authentic police cases from highway patrol divisions around the country. The series was produced for syndication from 1955 to 1959.
FETV's current lineup features popular television series such as Emergency!, Leave It to Beaver, Perry Mason and Adam-12. According to Nielsen, FETV's average audience in Total Day (7am-3am ET) ranks among the top 50 ad-supported cable networks.

CBS announced the first-year series Tracker, starring Justin Hartley, has been renewed for the 2024-2025 season. The series premiere, which debuted on Feb. 11 following the Super Bowl, has now been seen by 30 million multiplatform viewers and is Paramount+'s #1 show in February. The series stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family. 81st Golden Globe Winners; Sort Of Returns for Final Season
The 81st Golden Globe Awards honored the best in film and American television of 2023, as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). The ceremony was held Sunday night (January 9), from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, with it being aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ Jo Koy hosted the ceremony. The big television winners were Succession and The Bear with three wins each. The Bear won for Best Television Series - Musical/Comedy. The Bear star Ayo Edebiri won for Best Television Actress - Musical/Comedy Series. The Bear's Jeremy Allen White won for Best Television Actor - Musical/Comedy Series once again. The eight-episode third and final season of the Peabody Award-winning Max Original comedy series Sort Of debuts with two episodes Thursday, January 18 on Max followed by two episodes weekly through February 8. The series is a co-production with CBC and Sphere Media. Sabi comes to terms with feelings of grief and an unexpected sense of freedom following the death of their father. CBS New Late Night Series After Midnight; Eric André Adult Swim Comedy Special; Remembering Glynis Johns and David Soul
CBS announced its new late-night series, After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 12:37 AM, ET/PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+, following a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. After Midnight, inspired by Comedy Central's Emmy Award-winning series @midnight, is the smartest show on television about the dumbest things on the internet. With celebrated comedian Taylor Tomlinson at the helm and a panel of guests from the worlds of entertainment, comedy, music and beyond, After Midnight is a late-night comedy series about what set the internet abuzz that day with a game show feel. Upcoming guests will be announced at a later date.
Eric André will bring his anarchic comedy show Eric André Live Near Broadway to Adult Swim Thursday, January 18 at midnight ET/PT. Featuring André's lo-fi brand of late-night entertainment and punk rock comedy, his performance at Terminal 5 in New York City was filmed for the half-hour special, and includes guest appearances from Emmy(R) and Tony(R) winning actor Billy Porter alongside fan-favorite characters The Grim Reaper and The Fridge Keeper. A staple of Adult Swim programming since it first debuted in 2012, the sixth season of Eric Andre Show premiered on Adult Swim last year. André and Mike Rosenstein serve as Executive Producers. "Eric André Live Near Broadway" will also be available the next day on Max.
British actress Glynis Johns, who starred as Glynis Granville on Glynis and as Trudie Pepper on Coming of Age, has died. She died in Los Angeles, California, at an assisted living home, on January 4. Ms. Johns was 100.
Johns starred as Glynis Granville, a mystery writer, on the short-lived 1963 CBS sitcom Glynis. Keith Andes appeared as Keith Granville, Glynis' husband who works as a successful criminal defense attorney. Together, the couple would attempt to solve various crimes. George Mathews co-stars as Glynis' friend, Chick Rogers, a retired police officer, who offers advice and solace in her writing. The series was produced by Desilu and created and executive produced by Jess Oppenheimer, who originated I Love Lucy with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
She starred as Trudie Pepper on the 1988-1989 CBS sitcom Coming of Age. Trudie Pepper is a a senior citizen living in an Arizona retirement community called The Dunes. She is married to Ed Pepper (Alan Young). The cast included Paul Dooley, Phyllis Newman, Kevin Pollak, Ruta Lee and Lenore Woodward.
Johns guest starred as Helen Chambers, Diane Chambers' (Shelley Long) mother, in a first season episode of Cheers in 1983. In "Someone Single, Someone Blue," Helen Chambers is an eccentric dowager who, due to a stipulation in Diane's late father's will, will lose all her money unless Diane is married by the next day.
She played Edna Miles in a 1984 episode of The Love Boat. She guest starred as Maureen in a 1987 episode of The Cavanaughs.
Johns appeared in four episodes of Batman in 1967 as villainess Lady Penelope Peasoup, one half of the evil duo with Rudy Vallée as her brother Lord Marmaduke Ffogg. Some of her other television guest appearances included Studio One, Lux Video Theatre, Adventures in Paradise, Naked City, Dr. Kildare, The Lloyd Bridges Show, Burke's Law, The Defenders (1964) and Murder, She Wrote.
She starred as Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins (1964). She received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mrs. Firth in The Sundowners (1967). Her last film appearance was as the grandmother of Molly Shannon's Mary Gallagher in the 1999 film Superstar.
Johns won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical in 1973 for her role as Desiree Armfeldt in A Little Night Music.
Ms. Johns was a talented and versatile actress. She had a career spanning eight decades on stage and both the big and small screen. We thank her for the entertainment she brought us during her long career. She will be deeply missed.
American-British actor and singer David Soul, who starred as Joshua Bolt on Here Come the Brides and as Detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson on Starsky & Hutch, has died. He died on January 4 in London, England. Mr. Soul was 80.
Soul starred as Joshua Bolt on the 1968-1970 ABC comedy western Here Come the Brides. The series was loosely based on Asa Mercer's efforts in the 1860s to import marriageable women (the Mercer Girls) from the East Coast cities of the United States to Seattle, where there was a shortage. The cast included Robert Brown, Bobby Sherman, Bridget Hanley, Mark Lenard, Bo Svenson, Joan Blondell, Henry Beckham, Mitzi Hoag and Susan Tolsky.
He starred as Detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson on the 1975-1979 ABC action/police drama Starsky & Hutch. The series' protagonists were two Southern California police detectives: David Michael Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and Kenneth Richard "Hutch" Hutchinson. Hutch is the divorced, blond, Duluth, Minnesota, native with a more reserved and intellectual approach. Soul directed three episodes of the series. He had a brief cameo in the 2004 movie version of Starsky & Hutch, alongside Paul Michael Glaser.
Soul starred as Ted Warrick on Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law in 1974. In 1979, he starred as Ben Mears in the CBS miniseries Salem's Lot. He played nightclub owner Rick Blain on the 1983 NBC drama Casablanca. He starred as Roy Champion on the 1983-1984 NBC primetime soap opera The Yellow Rose. He starred as John Westley "Westy" Grayson on the 1989 NBC police drama Unsub.
He guest starred on I Dream of Jeannie in 1967 and All in the Family in 1971. Some of his other television guest appearances included Flipper (1967), Star Trek, The Young Rebels, Dan August, Ironside, The F.B.I., The Streets of San Francisco, Circle of Fear, Cannon, The Rookies, McMillan & Wife, Medical Center, Gunsmoke, Crime Story, The Young Riders (2 episodes), Jake and the Fatman (2 episodes) and Murder, She Wrote (2 episodes).
Some of his other television directing credits included Miami Vice, Hunter, Heart of the City, Crime Story (2 episodes), China Beach and In the Heat of the Night.
As a singer, he scored one US hit and five UK hits with songs such as "Don't Give Up on Us" (US, CAN, & UK No. 1) in 1976 and "Silver Lady" (UK No. 1) in 1977.
Mr. Soul was a good actor and singer. He did a great job portraying Hutch for four seasons on Starsky & Hutch. We thank him for the entertainment he brought us on television. He will be greatly missed.

Life & Beth Returns on Hulu; CBS Orders Watson for 2024-25
The comedy series Life & Beth returns for season two with all ten episodes on Friday, February 16 only on Hulu. As Beth and John's relationship grows more serious, Beth begins to examine the possibilities of marriage and having a family as she and John seek answers for their communication problems. Is Beth’s traumatic history with men, and people she trusted from her youth destined to repeat itself? And what is triggering her fears? CBS announced the straight to series drama order for Watson, starring Morris Chestnut, from CBS Studios for the 2024-2025 broadcast season. In Watson, a year after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, Dr. John Watson (Chestnut) resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson's old life isn't done with him, though - Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century. WATSON is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history's greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.
Watson is produced by CBS Studios. Craig Sweeny (Elementary, Star Trek: Section 31) wrote the pilot and will showrun and executive produce. Additional executive producers include Morris Chestnut; Shäron Moalem MD, PhD; and Aaron Kaplan and Brian Morewitz for Kapital Entertainment. Cedric the Entertainer (The Neighborhood) kicks off awards season as he hosts the second annual Cedy Awards, where he shines a spotlight on the best of the best in viral videos from around the world. As part of the award show spectacular, Cedric will select his top two favorite videos and then viewers at home will be able to vote live to crown the #1 video of the year*. To wrap up the show, Max Greenfield, Cedric's The Neighborhood co-star, stops by to play the role of “verifier of the results of stuff” from the “Consulting Firm of Greenfield & Greenfield” to authenticate the results of the vote and deliver the coveted Golden Cedy, on The Greatest @Home Videos: The Cedy Awards, Friday, Jan. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs)**.
*To vote, viewers can scan a QR code that will appear on their screen. Voting will be open for viewers in East Coast/Central time zones.
**Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service, as well as on demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to stream live, but will have access to on-demand the day after the special airs.
CBS announced the full list of nominations and hosts for the 26th Annual FAMILY FILM AND TV AWARDS. See nominations below. Akbar Gbajabiamila and Amanda Kloots (THE TALK hosts) will host the awards show airing Saturday, Jan. 27 (8:00 PM-9:00 PM, ET/PT), exclusively on the CBS Television Network and available for live and on-demand streaming via Paramount+ (live and on-demand for SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers starting Jan. 28).
The FAMILY FILM AND TV AWARDS – originally produced by iconic television and radio personality Dick Clark and initially broadcast on CBS in 1996 – pioneered the recognition and significance of family entertainment. The awards show returns to CBS to celebrate excellence in family-oriented film and television. A panel of industry experts, celebrities and Popstar! magazine readers will select the winners from 11 categories that will be announced during the broadcast.
In a spirit of generosity, this year's FAMILY FILM AND TV AWARDS will support the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program, a year-round initiative aiding families in need across the United States. The broadcast will include a special segment honoring the Marines and a presentation to Lieutenant General James B. Laster, USMC (Retired), CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, for his ongoing efforts to assist families in challenging circumstances.
