🌍 Today marks a pivotal moment in aid efforts worldwide as we launch a stronger Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), placing crisis-affected individuals and communities at the forefront of our work. The updated CHS reflects more than 4,000 voices across 90 countries from crisis-affected communities and response organisations. While its essence remains unchanged, the updated CHS reemphasises the fundamental rights of those whose lives are upended by emergencies. The revised Standard is now more inclusive and accessible, with simplified language and a streamlined structure to engage a broader spectrum of actors who support those facing crisis. Thanks to the hard work over the last 2 years of all the CHS Alliance members, partners and collaborators who made this possible. We now urge all organisations working to support those in need to sign on to a Statement of Commitment to demonstrate our collective dedication to providing quality, accountable aid. 🤝✨Learn more about the stronger CHS and how to show your support: https://lnkd.in/e9rga_ch #chs #chsalliance #accountability #quality #transparency #ngo #humanitarianaid #aidwork #internationaldevelopment #development #parternships #humanitarian #verification #accessible #accountability #compliance #MakeAidWork #CoreHumanitarianStandard #DemandAccountability Sphere Standards Groupe URD HQAI - Humanitarian Quality Assurance Initiative ICVA (International Council of Voluntary Agencies) Tanya Wood William Anderson Véronique Barbelet All India Disaster Mitigation Institute Matthew Carter OBE Aninia Nadig Pierre Hauselmann Bonaventure Sokpoh Shama Mall Romain Benicchio Aydée Cecilia Marín Pallares Umut Dilara Baycılı Rita Rhayem Philip Tamminga Charlotte Dufour Charly Pierluigi Gloria Soma Christine Knudsen Christian Modino Hok Mervat Shelbaya Unni Krishnan Zeina Mohanna, PhD Claire Goudsmit Rosa Argent Steven Parkinson Walter Brill Martina Brostrom Coline Rapneau (PSEAH Manager_CPCC/PCC Coach) Sandra Fong Vivian A. "Enhancing Quality and Accountability in Humanitarian Aid: Launching the Updated Core Humanitarian Standards CHS Edition 2024 on Quality and Accountability"🌟 Following the Global launch of the updated COre Humanitarian Standards CHS in Geneva on 21 March 2024, Building Foundation for Development (BFD) is launching the updated Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) at country level. The launch took place on May 8 in Ma’rib Governorate, which will be followed by a series of launch events of the updated CHS in: Yemen (Aden - Al-Mukalla - Sana’a). Sudan (Port Sudan) This achievement is the result of collaborative efforts by many organizations and individuals committed to enhancing quality and accountability. The Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) sets out nine commitments to ensure that organizations support people and communities affected by crises and vulnerabilities in ways that respect their rights and dignity and reinforce their essential role in finding solutions to the crises they face. This initiative aims to coordinate and harmonize efforts between different actors with the aim of promoting humanitarian principles and effective aid delivery. The core humanitarian standard was first published in December 2014 and has been updated over the years 2022-2024 by CHS Alliance, Sphere, and URD Group to ensure that it remains fit for purpose by ensuring that commitments continue to respond to the expectations of people and communities, and experience applying the standard. The evolution of the humanitarian and development context is also properly integrated into the standard. ❓ What should the future of #accountability #collaboration look like? 📣 Have your say! Ten years ago, the #humanitarian community came together at the World Humanitarian Summit, calling for a ‘change that gives a voice and #leadership to affected people and local organisations as agents of their own destiny.’ Despite much important progress, there is still a long way to go to meet this ambition. At the recent updated #CHS launch, we heard a rallying cry for stronger collaboration on #accountability to affected people, but what should this look like? CHS Alliance and ICVA (International Council of Voluntary Agencies) are committed to uniting our global networks to spark the system shift needed. We are therefore seeking your views to create a more accountable and equitable system for people in crisis. ➡ Tell us how we can make this a reality, via an online survey open until 3 June: https://lnkd.in/e6XpdmfR Tanya Wood Jamie Munn Manisha Thomas H2H Network ALNAP ODI Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP) Start Network NEAR (Network for Empowered Aid Response) CDAC Network InterAction Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Humanitarian Leadership Academy

Thank you to all of our members, partners, supporters, speakers and participants (both online and in person) who made our time at #HNPW2024 so memorable. We were honoured to lead the area of power relations and organisational culture, which as Bonaventure Sokpoh reminded us at the opening ceremony, are not abstract concepts—they shape the very fabric of humanitarian response. He also challenged us to "dare to imagine a future where every voice is truly listened to." We hope our sessions on Working Well, Leading Well and Funding Well, enhancing transparency, improving investigations and taking a survivor-centred approach to sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) did just that... showing that meaningful change is possible. By working together, we can embody the values of the Core Humanitarian Standard, listen better and keep people's dignity front and centre of all we do. Tanya Wood Verity Lindley Vivian A.
