I'm a scam-spotter and fundraiser promoter who has started this work in June. You can refer to me as cluelessbot; any pronouns are fine. I stay mostly anonymous, but I am 21, from the U.S., and I have Latino/European/Indigenous descent. I speak English fluently and Spanish poorly (self-identified no sabo kid).
Information about scams and concerns about scammers can be taken to my sideblog, @idocumentscammers.
My DMs are open for any questions/concerns you may have, particularly regarding the distinction between legitimate fundraisers and donation scams. Not all fundraisers are scams, and the "scam ring" theory was perpetuated by a group of racist white people. Please read this full thread before asking me questions about fundraisers.
About vetting/verification: Fundraising vetting/verification, in reference to fundraisers for those in (primarily) Gaza, is a process in which a user with a close familiarity with the area and the population inspects fundraisers and contacts the fundraiser creators in order to verify that the user, the fundraiser, and its contents are legitimate. While there have been some suspicions of vetted fundraisers, those cases have typically been due to a misunderstanding or a fundraiser holder's unfamiliarity with the English language or the mechanics of tumblr.
If a fundraiser is vetted, it is a sign that the fundraiser is very likely reliable. It is ultimately up to you whether or not you want to donate to/promote fundraisers, but it is not ok to claim all fundraisers/donation asks are scams because you refuse to learn about the details of the vetting process and the innerworkings of GoFundMe.
Q: Why should I trust vetters and their judgement?
A: Vetting users have been active on this website and/or other social media for awhile, and you can scroll through their blog to find a long history of posts about their lives, political beliefs, religion, and culture that align with their identification as Palestinian or another nationality that is close to Palestine. Each vetter has a different method, but all methods include either knowing a fundraiser host personally, or checking legal documents like photo ID or proof of residence to ensure they are actually Palestinian. They may not share all aspects of their vetting process to avoid giving tips to scammers.
Disclaimer: Due to the language barrier between English-speaking users and Palestinian-Arabic-speaking users, some verified fundraisers will erroneously state that they have been verified by multiple accounts that are not qualified to vet. This does not necessarily mean that they are a scammer, but that they have mistook an account that regularly shares Gaza fundraisers, for a vetter. It is always a good idea to search for and keep track of legitimate fundraiser vetting links to avoid spreading a vetting claim that is false. I like to attach the links to any fundraiser that I post or reblog.

Feel free to send me any fundraisers you come across that you cannot find on my sheet. I'm always eager to expand it!
Vetters:
Do not spam these accounts with tags on fundraiser posts! Most of them are no longer vetting, and the active ones have a specific submission process that usually involves the Gazan contacting them.
- moayesh is a Gazan living in Gaza. He vets fundraisers face-to-face, or in some circumstances, through video call. He is currently vetting fundraisers and his vetted list gets added to el-shab-hussein & nabulsi's vetted spreadsheet, as well as posted to gaza-evacuation-funds. You can also see his work on his instagram account. Vetted fundraisers do not immediately get posted to gaza-evacuation-funds, as vetted fundraiser posts run on a queue. It is a good idea to check the account daily for new vetted fundraisers.
- victoriawhimsey works with Instagram-based initiative Pali Pals, who has contacts directly in Gaza to lead the vetting process. She actively posts vetted users every day.
- nabulsi and el-shab-hussein run a spreadsheet where vetted users are tracked. The two of them no longer vet directly due to not having the time and resources to, but in the past they would vet through verifying things like photo ID, proof of residence, Palestinian-dialect Arabic fluency, and other forms of contact like social media accounts that belong to fundraiser organizers that predate October of 2023. Both are fluent in Arabic; el-shab-hussein and nabulsi are diaspora Palestinians living outside of Gaza.
- 90-ghost is a Gazan refugee resided in Egypt. He has survived the events subsequent to October 7, and his family is still in Gaza. He had to stop vetting due to a misinformation campaign against him and the general stress of being the sole active vetter on tumblr for awhile. Posts that he reblog are vetted by him, unless he's reblogging a post that was vetted by someone else already. He's still active and reblogging campaigns that he previously vetted.
- ibtisams was a vetter who had to leave tumblr for awhile. She was impersonated by someone else for a bit. She has since returned, and posts vetted fundraisers, but no longer vets.
- fairuzfan is a diaspora Palestinian who has only vetted fundraisers they know personally or family friends.
- apollos-olives is a diaspora Palestinian who only vets fundraisers that they know personally.
Scam busters:
Please try to be resourceful before contacting these other users about scams; they have made plenty of helpful guides and do not wish to be spammed with scam questions they already posted about.
