I would like to nominate David Levy (talk · contributions · Move log · Statistics · logs · block log) for adminship here. If you look at his contributions, you'll find a nice, broad body of work... new images, helping others, commentary on deletes and renames, etc... He's an admin on en:wp and he's been involved in helping Nilfanion and I get the messaging and MediaWiki templates around cascading protection (see MediaWiki:Cascadeprotected and MediaWiki talk:Cascadeprotected for more information), as well as protected from recreation stuff itself (see Template talk:Protected title, Template:Protected title and Commons:Protected_against_recreation for more information) working right. If he'd been an admin here he could have just doen it himself. While it is true that he has a relatively low contribution record here recently, I do think that he'd make good use of the tools if he had them and would get more active for the good of the wiki. ++Lar: t/c 19:42, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm honored to accept Lar's nomination. Indeed, I would be more active here if I possessed the sysop tools. On a number of occasions, I've been forced to seek out administrators (or advise other users to do so) to perform very basic (and sometimes urgent) tasks that affected the Commons, the English Wikipedia and numerous other Wikimedia wikis. (This has included the deletion of blatant copyright violations, the restoration of accidentally deleted images used on hundreds of pages, and various counter-vandalism measures.)
If entrusted with the sysop bit, I promise not to break the wiki.  :-) —David Levy 22:13, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  •  Question are you planning to become more active on the commons provided this RFA succeeds? I ask this because it doesn't seem you've been too active recently. Thanks, Yonatanh 14:39, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Recently, my studies have kept me very busy (and my Wikipedia involvement has decreased as well), but that will change soon. Irrespective of whether this request succeeds, I intend to become considerably more active here at the conclusion of the current academic semester. I'll be graduating from a two-year college in May, and I plan to take a one-year break before relocating and transferring to a four-year university. I've taken a photography course and purchased a new digital SLR camera, and I'm eager to contribute photographs to the project. —David Levy 16:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
