Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde besitzt ein Wappen, das ihr am 2. Februar 1982 verliehen wurde. Es handelt sich um das Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Knokke, das ihr am 9. Mai 1914 verliehen worden war. Knokke gehörte immer zur Pfarrei Lissewege und besaß weder ein Siegel noch ein Wappen. Im Jahr 1914 wurde das Wappen aus demjenigen von Lissewege auf einer Karte aus dem späten 16. Jahrhundert entworfen. Es war in Silber mit einem roten Sparren und Jakobsmuscheln sowie an der Basis ein Bündel Schilfrohr. Im Wappen von Knokke wurden die Farben des Feldes geändert und ein Distel, eine in den Dünen häufig vorkommende Pflanze, ersetzte das Schilfrohr.
Français : La commune possède des armoiries qui lui ont été octroyées le 2 février 1982. Ce sont les armoiries de l'ancienne commune de Knokke qui lui avaient été octroyées le 9 mai 1914. Knokke a toujours appartenu à la paroisse de Lissewege et ne possédait ni sceau ni armoiries. En 1914, les armoiries ont été conçues à partir de celles de Lissewege sur une carte de la fin du xvie siècle. Elles étaient en argent avec un chevron rouge et des coquilles Saint-Jacques et, à la base, un bouquet de roseaux. Dans les armoiries de Knokke, les couleurs du champ ont été changées et un chardon, une plante commune dans les dunes, a remplacé les roseaux.
