English: In the ancient dance of Bengal, 'Kalikach' unfolds, Where Kali's dance reigns, yet Shiva or Kartik also mold. Men, donned as Kali, sway in rhythmic delight, One hand clasping a sword or fabric, the other a soft light. Oft with makeshift hands, boards or wood in play, Dhak and Kanshi, or shinga and ramshinga they display.
As the dance commences, the haunting tunes subside, The dancer adorned, Kali's essence does preside. With each beat, the deity's fervor ascends higher, The pace intensifies, the dance grows mightier. In the act of feigned adversaries, the dance does conclude, Through the art of their movement, adversaries subdued. |
