The Metropolis of Lyon (Métropole de Lyon) is a French territorial collectivity with special status (since 1 January 2015) in the new "departmental district" of Rhône (that succeeded to the former homonymous department), and (until end of 2015) in region Rhône-Alpes (since 1 January 2016, it is in region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). Its capital is Lyon.
