Use of AWB

[edit]

Hi! I have a question not related to Commons.

I would like to change {{GFDL}} to {{GFDL-with-disclaimers}} on a number of wikis for perhaps 2,000 files.

It is easy to do with a bot however it requires a bot flag. But what about AWB? As far as I know it is allowed to do edits with AWB without a bot flag?

I have never used AWB but as far as I know you use it and with great success. Would you be willing to do the task if I point you to the wikis?

One example is ku:Wîkîpediya:Dîwan_(teknîkî)#GFDL where I made my suggestion but there is no one around making comments or saying "Hey, I can do that for you with my bot".

In case you wonder I made m:User:MGA73/GFDL files and I'm trying to clean up in files using GFDL. First step is to make sure no new files are uploaded with disclaimers. --MGA73 (talk) 15:08, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MGA73: I'm not familiar with AWB, so I'm afraid that I cannot help you. Sorry. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:10, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question about CfD nominations

[edit]

Please note (and respond to) the question at Commons:Categories for discussion/2024/06/Category:Files from Flickr (uncategorized 2016), if you haven't bookmarked it or received the ping. Enhancing999 (talk) 22:49, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:20.March.March4Gaza.KStreet.WDC.13January2024 (53513227728).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Just a little hint. With all due respect

There are people who always manage to turn a good day into a bad day for others. And there are also people like you who make it almost impossible to take further part in this project.

Think about it. Just keep your own problems to yourself and start having a little more respect for others. The world is beautiful, and it's beautiful because there are people who are constructive. I realize this won't even affect you emotionally, but I just wanted to let you know. Hubertl 17:48, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

but rude message. // sikander { talk } 🦖 22:13, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see sincerity in the message. This account is still tolerated in this project only because it acts like a worm that decomposes garbage, and nothing more. It's a pity that it doesn't focus on the real garbage – copyright violations – but on images related to freedom of panorama. Being autistic like them, I understand their hyperfocus, but I would like them to realize it and start acting constructively instead of being so harassing as they are now. Please note that nominating images to deletion due to violating freedom of panorama is not and has never been the issue with this account. RodRabelo7 (talk) 07:21, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Stop Putler sign.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
