Ever felt like you only have a few minutes to make a lasting impression? You're not wrong! ⏲️ According to Brant Pinvidic's 'The 3-Minute Rule,' you have just three minutes to capture your audience's attention. Whether you're pitching an idea, product, or service, those first moments are crucial. If you nail it, your audience will be eager to hear more. If not, you might lose them for good. So, next time you're preparing for that big meeting, remember: keep it short, sweet, and to the point. And if you want to master the art of the three-minute pitch, give 'The 3-Minute Rule' a listen on Blinkist 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXCNuaGx

When you think of avoidant behavior, you might picture skipping a party to not have to deal with your social anxiety, or not opening your mailbox because you fear an unpleasant letter. This is classic avoidance—but avoidant coping strategies come in more varieties than you might imagine. In fact, thinking very actively and repeatedly about a problem can also be a form of avoidance. Rick Hanson is a clinical psychologist, and together with his son Forrest Hanson they host the popular Being Well Podcast, which recently launched as a Blinkist Shortcast! "What's a Shortcast?" Shortcasts are available in the Blinkist app as 15-minute power episodes of original podcast recordings—perfect for tuning into the most exciting insights on a busy day. In the episode “Confronting Your Avoidance,” Rick and Forrest take a deeper look at why we ruminate, asking: Why isn’t one lap around the track enough? And how can we get out of the spiral of repetitive thoughts? 👉 The answer lies in learning to tolerate our underlying feelings and longings, and to hold them with mindfulness. Of course, this is easier said than done—but we’re not about to leave you hanging. The Being Well Shortcast is filled with insightful conversations and resources to help you tap into your potential to feel well. 🔗 Listen to this Shortcast here: https://lnkd.in/eQVF5EyT

Many studies have shown that taking breaks during the workday can increase productivity, reduce stress, and improve overall job satisfaction. But what do you actually do during your breaks? ☀ Exposure to natural light and fresh air can boost your mood and improve focus, and a short walk can increase blood flow and reduce stress. 🥒 A nutritious snack can prevent energy crashes and improve concentration, and eating regularly helps maintain blood sugar levels and supports overall health. And if you enjoy that snack slowly and mindfully, you can even can reduce stress and improve digestion. 📱Checking your phone can help you stay in touch with friends, family, and colleagues. But, be mindful of excessive phone use, as it can backfire and lead to distractions and stress. 🎸 Engaging in a hobby can be a great way to relax and unwind and pursuing something you're passionate about boosts your self-esteem and creativity. Hobbies can also challenge your brain and keep you mentally sharp. So, which are you choosing? Don't skip your breaks.

Making learning easier is what it's all about for us, George! 📚 Thanks so much for sharing your takeaways and Happy Learning Day!

    Senior Account Executive at Go1

My worst nightmare? Reading a book AND trying something new. 😅 But thanks to Blinkist and Go1’s Learning Day, I managed to tackle both! Today at Go1, it's one of our dedicated Learning Days, where we focus on self-directed growth and development – “practicing what we preach,” and all that, right? I decided to dive into Atomic Habits by James Clear, and here are my top takeaways: Make it Obvious: Adjust your environment so the right cues are always front and centre. Visibility drives action! Make it Attractive: Pair habits with something you enjoy. (Exercising while watching Netflix? Yes, please! 🎥💪) Make it Easy: Use the “2-minute rule.” Just commit to 2 minutes a day—it’s all about building momentum. Make it Satisfying: Track your progress and reward yourself for consistency. Small wins build big habits! As someone with dyslexia (and possibly one of the world’s slowest readers), finishing a book in under 30 minutes was only possible with Blinkist 😂

It's Free Blink Monday! This week's Blink is: Smart Work by jo owen 📖 https://lnkd.in/en7zieey Smart Work (2022) is a handbook for leaders navigating the post-pandemic transition into a world of remote and hybrid work. These are challenging times for managers, argues author Jo Owen. What worked in the office won’t necessarily work in remote teams. But if there’s one thing Covid-19 showed us, it’s that we can adapt — fast. And change is a good thing, he insists. Why? Mastering these challenges isn’t just about future-proofing your job — it’ll also make you a better leader. Who should read it? 👀 Leaders and managers Team players Self-starters

It's a classic math problem, and not because it’s especially difficult. But because it’s designed to trip us up. Did you immediately think the answer was $0.10? You're wrong—along with many other smart people. 🚨 - SPOILERS BELOW - 🚨 The correct answer is $0.05, but we only conclude this if we give ourselves a moment to think. This illustrates one of the main points that economist and psychologist Daniel Kahneman makes in his book “Thinking, Fast and Slow.” He argues that the human mind has two systems: System one is the part of our brain that operates quickly and intuitively, most useful in a fight-or-flight situation. System two is responsible for our decision-making, reasoning, and beliefs. Kahneman points out that we opt for System one in many situations where System two would serve us better. Want to dig deeper into his thoughts? Check out the Blink for more on “Thinking, Fast and Slow.” 💭🐢 https://lnkd.in/eUQ8qnMT
