OpenTelemetry is the adopted standard for observability at Zalando and our platform teams provide Software Development Kits (SDKs) in several languages for engineers to instrument their applications. These SDKs provide: - Automatic configuration including out-of-the-box environment variable parsing. - Standard semantic conventions and APIs across languages. - Built-in auto-instrumentations and platform-specific metrics. - Central control over use/ restriction of features, e.g. security and compliance. Our B2C customers are excited by the quality brands we are adding, spending time with our new digital tools and content, and embracing our expanding lifestyle offerings in areas such as Sports, Designer, and Beauty. Our building owner representatives, Hines Germany, together with Berlin-based frozen dessert makers Paletas surprised our Zalando colleagues with a special treat! As the weather has been very hot lately, everyone was invited to enjoy free and delicious ice lollies 🍦 The best part? While Zalandos could enjoy a (n)ice break, they could also donate to a local charity, the Bahnhofsmission Berlin-Ostbahnhof. The voluntary helpers of the railway station mission offer lonely and/or unhoused people a place to rest, eat something, freshen up, or find a bit of security. Each year 50,000 visitors come by, 90,000 meals are served and 6,000 consultations are carried out. Within just a few hours almost EUR 600 was collected, and Zalando will double this sum donating EUR 1,200 in total. More than 130 million people live with disabilities in the European region, according to the World Health Organization. Since 2020, we have been working to bridge this gap and meet the needs of the Disabled community through Adaptive Fashion. Before we joined the Berlin Pride demonstration last week, members of our LGBTQI+ Employee Resource Group organised a panel discussion, ‘Our Time: How Queerness Shapes Time, Identity and Solidarity’ to amplify the voices of the community 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Hosted by Samet Akti, the hybrid panel talk journeyed through time as Alexis Evans (Senior Employer Branding Manager), Jule Hanke (Lead Business Partner), Mondell Williams (Art Director Social), and Sergei Puchkin (Senior Project Manager) shared their perspectives. The panellists looked back and shared how they navigate setbacks when faced with homophobia and transphobia. They looked at today and shared personal experiences, as well as advice for colleagues to support the queer community at Zalando. Lastly, they looked into the future to discuss how we can show solidarity within the community going forward. Thanks to Converse and NOISY MAY for donating their merchandise, as sales from these donations resulted in 690€ being raised for GLADT e.V. 🌈 #InsideZalando #ZalandoPride
