The Countries That Smoke The Most, Mapped
In one country, almost half of people aged 15 and older use tobacco products.

Around 23 percent of the global population uses tobacco, according to the World Health Organization β€” but in some countries, that figure is much, much higher.

Using WHO data from 2022, Visual Capitalist mapped the countries with the highest smoking rates among people aged 15 and older.

Tiny island country Nauru tops the list, with almost half of the population aged 15 or over using tobacco products. Following behind are Myanmar, Kiribati and Papua New Guinea, where 44, 40 and 40 percent of people are tobacco users, respectively.
