There's One Clear Winner Among American Pizza Chains
Is pizza the best food ever? It's also a gigantic business that everyone wants a slice of.

When the king of basketball invests heavily in a pizza franchise that's slowly opening up around the country, you know it's a good time to be in the pizza business.

Pizza is more popular now than it has ever been, and pie sales in the US hit $46.9 billion in 2022. A new record high.

But, which chains are the biggest? Who reigns supreme when it comes to making Italy's best gift to humanity? It's one of the most popular foods on earth, but only one company can say they're America's number one pizza place.

Domino's (who removed the word "Pizza" from its name in 2012) is the number one pizza chain in the US — its revenue was $8.57 billion in 2022. Overall, it had roughly a million customers per day spread across 20,500 locations around the world.

    It seems like all the chains have forgotten how to top a pizza. I don't want a big puffy bread ring with a little bit of pizza in the middle! The edge only needs to be big enough to grab a slice, and everything falls off if it is center heavy.

    Domino's is #1 primarily because of availability, not because of preference. It's the only choice for take out pizza where I live so it's what I get when I want cheap pizza fast. I'm convinced that's the case for a lot of people and why it tops this list.

    Domino's is like eating a loaf of bread, with least possible sprinkled toppings all over.. American pizza is a waste of resources

    I don't know about their other pizzas, but Domino's Extravaganza (thin crust) is the absolute best chain store pizza.

    Domino's pizza is the absolute worst tasting pizza I've ever had.
    It would be completely laughed at in the North End of Boston, or in NYC.

      !00% agree, it's one of the worst I've had in my 75 years. I will never order Domino's again. How it is #1 is a total mystery to me.
