You know we love to bring the funk, but only metaphorically speaking. Bad smells are always lurking out there, and we only have so many cans of Febreze on hand. It's nice to know where the worst stenches are hiding so that we can avoid them entirely.

Redditor u/MaroonTrucker28 wanted to know what kind of nightmare scents are out there, and the AskReddit community decided to prove that the internet is filled with people who know a thing or two about foul odors.

I'm a physician, and I've definitely smelled some bad things, but the worst by far was year-old watermelon juice which had been left under the back seat of my SUV by one of the kids. Sealed in Tupperware for a year and baked in the 120 summer temp inside the car. I opened it up not knowing what it was and literally almost passed out.

As a journalist, I once visited the medical examiner's office and watched them do autopsies. In one airless room they had a junkie on a slab with his skull sawed off and his scalp pulled down over his face, his arms sliced open to reveal the veins with the junk in them, and his chest cavity sawed open and intestines lying in a gooey pile. The combination of entrails, feces, formaldehyde and the guy's awful cologne kept me from eating until the next day.
