lot of folks conflate fearing your parents and fearing consequences and I feel that’s where a lot of “discipline” stans stem from 
“kids should fear their parents” “a healthy dose of fear is good for them/keeps them in line” no, children shouldn’t fear trusted adults at all actually. in any way, shape, or form. what in your rabbit ass mind makes you think that’s a good precedent to set.
