"Criticism" section

edit

I'm leaning towards deleting the entire "Criticism directed at Raycom" section. It's very, very unsourced and basically quotes people out of nowhere. It seems to be a way for the editor of that segment to add his/her own opinion of WUAB. MPWard 01:16, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I support deletion of this section. It can always be added back if/when verfiable sources are found. --Muchness 01:32, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I went ahead and deleted it. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. MPWard 07:59, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

History

edit

While we're at it - the "History" section is way, way too lengthy. It contains just about everything except what the anchors had for lunch on one day in 1994. A starting suggestion: trim down stuff like the multi-line dissection of the station's current schedule...which seems to be in the same style as the "Criticism" section (i.e. solely to express the opinion that "WUAB stinks, it runs too many infomercials"). WUAB is a station with a rich history, but this is ridiculous. MPWard 08:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I did some "minor surgery" on "History". I removed several sections which appeared to be personal opinion, including things like "they made a master stroke by landing the Indians". It's still way too long, and I'd support anyone trimming it at least some... MPWard 08:20, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

It'd be nice to get something on that "Sup's Up" (pronounced like "soup's up") -- I think that was the name -- weekend movie show, with the host guy who would dress up as Superman-like, while greasing back his black hair and wearing red face paint on his nose. I spent many a weekend back in the late 70s and early 80s watching shlock B movies or Godzilla, etc. thanks to "Sup"--VigilantInvestor 18:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

You mean Superhost. He has his own page here on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhost. But he's not linked to anywhere in the WUAB article. There's no spot for "alumni" in the article. Is there anyone else of note for such a section? Carboncopy (talk) 20:54, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
