Statement in the opening section about declining majority
editI am slightly concerned that the statement in the opening that Tam Galbraith's "majority had been gradually reduced, and even in the 1979 election which the Conservatives won, the Labour Party had continued to gain ground" is a little misleading. This would imply to me a continual decline since his election at the 1948 Glasgow Hillhead by-election. In fact it rose during the 1950s and and slightly increased again between 1966 and 1970. Also while the 1979 election did see Galbraith's majority fall to its lowest level (just over 2000 votes) he increased his total number of votes and vote share compared with the previous contest in October 1974. The reduced majority was due to the collapse in the Scottish National Party's vote resulting in an even bigger increase in the Labour share. Dunarc (talk) 23:48, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
